A fun and purpose built room for all the ‘4’s and 5’s’
- Monday/Wednesday/Friday – 9:00am to 12pm
- Tuesday/Thursday – 9:00am to 12pm
In the 4/5 Pre-K class we work on classroom expectations, procedures, and social skills. We also begin developing the educational skills needed for Kindergarten such as: letters and their sounds, through the use of Zoo Phonics, numbers, colors and shapes. All of these skills are acquired through a play based learning philosophy. Hands-on fun and playful activities including arts and crafts greatly contribute to fine motor skill development while providing students an opportunity to express their creativeness. Our in-classroom sensory table filled with a wide variety of curriculum specific textures and materials gives our students the physical interaction applicable to the lessons we learn! Each student is given the opportunity to share life experiences and imagination through stories by taking turns as our class’s Literacy Student. My goal for the students is that they have so much fun at preschool they don’t realize they are learning! Enrollment is capped at 20 students, and as with most preschools, this is our most popular class. With three adults in the class every day, the student to adult ratio is always in great shape.
Students must be age 4 by October 1 in order to be enrolled in the 4’s and 5’s class. It is important to register early for this class, as it is the first to fill every year. Registration for our preschool is done in the Spring. Keep your eyes on the website for updates or check our calendar for the date.
The 4’s and 5’s classroom is set up to make sure that every student has a chance to play and learn. The room is quite large allowing for many different types of guided play. The large sink is a great place to help clean up spills and messes so that kids can continue having a great time together. Manipulatives and toys abound in many different forms in the 4’s and 5’s room. New this year are listening centers, guided books with an audio component to encourage letter sounds and word formation.
