As the year begins, we’ve noticed a significant uptick in registration questions and concerns. This post is designed to take care of those concerns, but as always, if you have a question, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
First and foremost, thank you so much for considering Loveland Preschool among many other options. We feel that over the last 50 years, LPS has done an excellent job helping kids become excellent young people on their way to elementary school. We are a parent cooperative preschool and if you haven’t figured out that we are a little different yet, here’s some reading material to see what exactly this means with regard to your registration in our school.
Open Houses are scheduled for February 28 and March 1 from 9:30am to 10:30am. Please take time to come and see us, ask questions, and get your kids into the class to see how they fit and feel about it. There will be many board members available to show you around and answer any questions you might have. Put it in your calendar now, it’s an excellent opportunity to see if LPS will make a great fit for you!
Registration happens on the morning of March 22. The Loveland Preschool registration process has been designed to be as seamless as possible, but it’s important that you understand that placing 92 children into six classes in a fair manner isn’t the easiest task. We do our very best to ensure that each person desiring a spot receives one, however, if last year’s registration process was any indication, that sometimes is a little easier to say than to do.
Our registration gives preference to our returning families. If a family is returning to our school, they are allowed to register the first hour from 9am to 10am. New families must wait until 10am to register, and depending on how many returning families fill slots, some classes may be close to full before new families are allowed to register, but there should be at least few spaces available for each class at the start of new family registration.
Registration is a lottery based system. We start at 9am for returning families and at 10am for new families. If you arrive at the school an hour early, or sleep in a tent in the parking lot overnight, your chances of registering for the class you desire are the same as a person who walks in one minute prior to registration starting. Plan ahead, but keep in mind that all you need to do is arrive five minutes earlier than your start time so we can hand out numbers and we can proceed with registration. If you arrive after registration has begun, you’ll automatically be placed in back of the line. There will be no re-draws based upon someone arriving late.
Plan to be gone for the entire hour of registration, although, believe us when we say, we do not want to keep you for that long. Each session took about 45 minutes last year to get from beginning to end, but if you draw a 1, you’ll be registered within the first few minutes and on your way. Safest bet is to plan on being gone for an hour and let’s hope that doesn’t actually happen.
Keep your eyes on the website and you’ll see new registration forms posted in the next few weeks if you’d like to get a jump start on paperwork, you’re more than welcome to download the forms and have them ready to go for registration morning.
Send those questions when you have them, we’d love to hear from you!
